The first step is to verify the integrity of your Trezor package. Ensure seals are intact and there is no evidence of tampering. Once verified, connect your device to your computer.
Download and install the **Trezor Suite** desktop application. This is the official and most secure interface for managing your wallet. Download Trezor Suite
Connect your Trezor to your computer using the provided USB cable. Launch Trezor Suite. It will detect the new device and prompt you to **Initialize Device** and install the latest firmware. Follow the on-screen instructions precisely.
You will be asked to create a **PIN**. The PIN is entered on your computer screen by referencing the button grid displayed on your Trezor device. This protects your wallet from physical theft. **Remember this PIN!**
Your 12, 18, or 24-word **Recovery Seed** is the master key to all your funds. It is generated during setup and must be backed up securely offline. **This is the most important step.**
The Trezor screen will display your recovery words, one by one. Write them down **in order** on the provided recovery card. **Do NOT take photos, save it digitally, or type it anywhere.**
Trezor Suite will ask you to confirm a few words from your seed to ensure you wrote them down correctly. This is a crucial check before you finalize the setup.
To access your wallet and manage your funds after the initial setup, you will use Trezor Suite.
Connect your Trezor and open the Trezor Suite application.
When prompted, enter your PIN using the randomized button grid as you did during setup.
If you set up an advanced security feature called a **Passphrase**, you will be asked to enter it now. This creates a "hidden wallet" and is an advanced security measure.
Once the PIN (and optional Passphrase) is entered correctly, your wallet will be unlocked, and you can view your balances, send transactions, and receive cryptocurrencies.
To get your first cryptocurrency on your Trezor, you need your unique receiving address.
In Trezor Suite, select the cryptocurrency you wish to receive (e.g., Bitcoin) and click the **Receive** tab.
Trezor Suite will display your receiving address. **Crucially, the exact same address will also appear on your Trezor device screen.** Always visually **verify** that the address on the computer screen matches the address on your Trezor screen before sharing it or sending funds to it.
